Out and about in town with your baby and looking for a calm space to decompress? Drop in to The Nest, Good Beginnings’ comfortable, cozy sanctuary for caregivers and their babies.
This space is our ‘community living room.’ When we’re here, our door is open to you.
Stop by The Nest if you need a quiet, private place to nurse or feed your baby or change a diaper. While you’re here, you can also speak to our program director about resources, sourcing baby supplies, and learning about our other offerings for prenatal & postpartum families.
We are typically here weekdays 9-2, except Tuesdays, when The Nest is at Kellogg-Hubbard Library in their East Montpelier room. The three women who run GBCV are mothers of small children as well, so schedules may change. Call beforehand if you are unsure that we’re open.
The Nest is an unstaffed space, however we’ll always greet you when you arrive and we’ll be working in the adjacent office if you need us for anything.
Babywearing Consultations
Good Beginnings gives free drop-in Babywearing Consultations in The Nest on Thursdays from 9am-12pm. You can also make an appointment for a consultation at The Nest or in the comfort of your home.
We sell Reduced Cost Carriers on a sliding scale to make the purchase of a baby carrier more affordable! We also have a Baby Carrier Lending Library, so you can see which carrier feels best for your body and your baby.
Income-eligible families who are matched with a Postpartum Angel may also qualify for The Good Beginnings Free Carrier Program, which helps families access high-quality infant carriers. Contact us to learn more or see what we have in stock.
GBCV Book Lending Library

The Good Beginnings Lending Library is full of books on all aspects of birth, pregnancy, and postpartum.
Lending Library Guidelines
- Recommended borrowing period: 2 weeks
- Treat these books with regard for future readers
- Recommend and share books you like with others!
